Dental implants cause problems during MRI or TSA check

Dental implants are typically safe in both MRI and TSA checks, though there are a few details to be aware of:

1. MRI: Most modern dental implants are made from non-magnetic materials, like titanium, which is safe for MRIs. However, the metal in the implant may create a slight distortion in the MRI images near the jaw area, but this won’t affect the quality of scans for other parts of the body. It’s important to inform the MRI technician about any implants so they can adjust the scanning process as needed.

2. TSA Check: Dental implants rarely trigger TSA metal detectors because they are usually too small and don’t have enough metal mass to set off alarms. If the implant does trigger the scanner (which is uncommon), informing TSA officers of your dental implants should clear up any confusion quickly.

In short, dental implants shouldn’t cause significant issues during either MRI scans or airport security checks.
